My beloved Rotary-friends,
Good evening to you all
Firstly, I must express my sincerest gratitude for the overwhelming flood of birthday wishes I received. I've been on the receiving end of so many well-wishes that I'm starting to suspect my phone has secretly become a magician's hat, endlessly producing messages of cheer and goodwill!
But enough about my birthday—tonight is all about celebration and camaraderie. I raise this
glass to each and every one of you for gracing me with your kindness and for making this gathering a truly joyous occasion.
I'd also like to extend a special thank you to Pierre Perne for masterminding the Chairman's
voyage to Lavenham and Cambridge. Pierre, your attention to detail is impeccable, and I'm delighted to be embarking on this adventure under your expert guidance. I half-expect a journey filled with medieval charm,
exellent food, and perhaps a bit of rivalry between Stilton and brie.
Tonight's festivities are of course not about revelry; they're about nurturing the warm bonds
that already tie us together within the Rotary Club of Gent. Each one of you contributes to our shared spirit of fellowship, and I'm excited to see these connections grow even stronger.
So, to friendships that deepen like the River Cam, and to adventures that unfold like the
pages of a well-worn novel. Let's make this evening one for the books—a testament to the joy of celebrating life and the beautiful friendships we hold dear.
